School is underway and we are getting into routines. Please remember – if you have new staff to ask them to become members. If no one asks them they can’t join. We have so many wonderful reasons to join but you need to ask first. We have meet and greets coming up all around the region, we have professional development planning days, we have a conference September 29-30, and much more happening!
On Labor Day I joined other unions and our state President, Duff Martin on a walk to show our solidarity in Eau Claire, WI. It was a large group of people from all different unions. It was a wonderful walk to Phoenix park that showed we are all in this together. Next they had speakers and a picnic. I was interviewed and asked why Labor Day was important and I reflected in my mind on all that has happened in my career. My statement to the media was that we are still here and we are not going away.
We grow stronger when we stand together. Our voice gets louder when we speak together. We have more power when we all work together, no matter what rules are made or how people try to stop us. We will not go away. Stay strong and true to/for our students.
Come join us at our next event near you. We will keep you posted on what is happening. Bring a new teacher, or a potential member and help us bring back our voice!
