Green & Healthy Schools Institute is August 13-15 in Stevens Point

The Green & Healthy Schools Institute promises to inspire, ignite, and recharge educators, heading into the coming school year. Fees are low this year because of general federal support.
Registration is now open for the institute, held in conjunction with the Wisconsin Association for Environmental Education’s Annual Conference, August 13-15, 2014, at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point.

Programming will cover topics such as reducing environmental impact, improving health and wellness, engaging students through hands-on citizen science projects, integrating STEM and STEAM into the classroom and the community, using mobile devices for teaching and learning, and how environmental education can help meet Common Core State Standards for Literacy in All Subjects (a.k.a. disciplinary literacy).

Keynote speaker Steven Ritz is an educator traveling from the Bronx, NY, to inspire with his Green Bronx Machine, a vertical garden program feeding thousands.

Because of a partnership with Green & Healthy Schools Wisconsin and an Environmental Protection Agency grant, early bird registration (through July 25) ranges from only $10 (one-day rate for students) to $95 (full conference rate for non-WAEE members who are not retired).
Also, with the purchase of three full conference registrations from a single school, organization or agency, get one free (reimbursed after conference).
